Merits of scientometrics in exploring developmental patterns: Translation Studies in perspective

Abstract

The scientific investigation of topics and patterns in translation studies have been come to the fore by drawing on the potentials of scientometrics and bibliographics in interdisciplinary studies. Quantitative tracing of historical patterns in journals and books are also in perspective. Similarly, co-occurrence patterns for mapping those trends are suggested. Indeed, these are meant to stress the policy makers’ mission for portraying future directions as well. Auxiliary software like VOSviewer are used for visualizing bibliometric networks of researchers, publications, journals and citations in current databases such as Scopus and Web of Science, together with simpler tools such as Excel files. These render patterns of co-authorship, keywords co-occurrence, co-citation, top journals, countries and universities to give us a summary of the filed productivity. The present letter is an attempt to provide readers with a brief introduction to (1) the value of scientometric studies in rendering a holistic picture of translation studies.

بررسی علمی موضوعات و الگوهای مطالعات ترجمه با بهره گیری از پتانسیل های علم سنجی و کتابشناسی در مطالعات میان رشته ای مورد توجه قرار گرفته است. ردیابی کمی الگوهای تاریخی در مجلات و کتاب ها نیز در چشم انداز است. به طور مشابه، الگوهای همزمانی برای ترسیم این روندها پیشنهاد شده است. در واقع، اینها به منظور تأکید بر مأموریت سیاست گذاران برای به تصویر کشیدن جهت های آینده نیز هستند. نرم‌افزارهای کمکی مانند برای تجسم شبکه‌های کتاب‌سنجی محققان، نشریات، مجلات و استنادات در پایگاه‌های داده فعلی مانند Scopus و Web of Science به همراه ابزارهای ساده‌تر مانند فایل‌های اکسل استفاده می‌شوند. این الگوهای هم نویسندگی، کلمات کلیدی هم‌روی، هم‌استناد، مجلات برتر، کشورها و دانشگاه‌ها را ارائه می‌کنند تا خلاصه‌ای از بهره‌وری فایل را به ما ارائه دهند. نامه حاضر تلاشی است برای ارائه مقدمه ای کوتاه به خوانندگان با (1) ارزش مطالعات علم سنجی در ارائه تصویری کل نگر از مطالعات ترجمه.
